Zero. That’s how many of the 73 Pennsylvania law firm websites we audited passed a full-funnel conversion check.
A law firm’s website is the one channel it fully owns. No rented audience, no ad auction, no algorithm deciding who sees it. If that site can’t turn a visitor into a call, every dollar spent sending traffic there leaks before it counts. We wanted to know how many firms actually built a site that converts, so we checked.
We scanned 73 Pennsylvania law firm websites in March 2026. Six features separate a lead-generation engine from a static brochure: video, blog content, displayed reviews, case results, call tracking, and live chat. We also pulled the primary tagline and the primary CTA text from every site.
The Feature Desert
60.3% of the firms we audited were missing four or more of the six features we measured. Not one firm had all six.
| Feature | Present | Missing |
|---|---|---|
| Video | 28.8% | 71.2% |
| Blog | 46.6% | 53.4% |
| Reviews shown | 60.3% | 39.7% |
| Results or verdicts shown | 43.8% | 56.2% |
| Call tracking | 19.2% | 80.8% |
| Live chat | 19.2% | 80.8% |
Video and blog content are the two signals a visitor hits before they ever pick up the phone. 71.2% of firms had no video anywhere on site, no attorney introduction, no case walkthrough. 53.4% had no blog. 39.7% had neither, which means close to four in ten firms ask a stranger to call on nothing but a logo and a tagline.
The Tracking Blackout
80.8% of the firms we audited had no call tracking installed. The same share had no live chat. 68.5% had neither.
That gap sits underneath every other number in this audit. A firm with no call tracking can’t connect a phone call to the ad, page, or channel that produced it. The ABA’s own member data puts this in context: 87% of firms have a website, but only 35% have ever traced a client back to it. Our tracking numbers explain the gap. Most firms in this market aren’t measuring the one channel that would tell them their site is working, or that it isn’t.
The CTA Graveyard
“Contact Us” was the single most common button on a law firm homepage in our audit, used by 19.2% of firms.
| Primary CTA | Firms | Share |
|---|---|---|
| ”Contact Us” | 14 | 19.2% |
| “Free Consultation” | 12 | 16.4% |
| “Free Case Review / Evaluation” | 7 | 9.6% |
| “Get Help” / “Get Started” | 7 | 9.6% |
| “Learn More” / “Explore” | 4 | 5.5% |
Someone hits that button after a bad day. They’re scared, they’re hurt, and the site’s answer is “Contact Us.” Not a promise, not a timeframe, not a next step. “Free Consultation” fares only a little better. Every competitor in the market offers the same thing, so it names a category, not a reason to pick this firm.
The tagline told the same story. We pulled the primary headline off every homepage and lined them up: “Trusted for Over 75 Years.” “Dependable. Experienced. Effective.” “Our Lawyers Get Results.” “Experienced Attorneys Providing Personalized Legal Services.” Swap any two between firms and nobody would notice.
| Tagline pattern | What it signals | The gap |
|---|---|---|
| ”Trusted Since [Year]“ | Longevity | Every established competitor has years too |
| ”Experienced. Dependable.” | Adjective stacking | No specific claim behind either word |
| ”We Get Results” | Outcomes | The result isn’t named or shown |
| ”Personal Service, Big Firm Resources” | Best of both | Claimed by most mid-size firms in the set |
Only one firm in the set, Lundy Law, checked all six conversion features. Its site still leads with “Trusted for Over 75 Years.” Full infrastructure, brochure copy. Building the plumbing and writing the differentiated case for a specific firm are two separate jobs, and this audit shows firms rarely finish both.
What This Means If You’re Buying Media Right Now
Three checks any firm can run on its own site this week.
Count your features. Video, blog, reviews, results, call tracking, chat. If your site is missing four of the six, you’re inside the 60.3% majority, not the exception.
Read your CTA out loud. If it just says “Contact Us” or “Free Consultation,” a visitor has no reason to pick your firm. The next tab is one click away.
Check your call tracking. If a call can’t be traced back to the ad or page that drove it, the spend behind it is a guess, not a measurement. Clio’s own data backs this: firms running intake technology convert the leads they already have at a higher rate.
None of this is a redesign problem. A firm can rebuild a homepage in a weekend and still ship the same brochure with new fonts. The fix is infrastructure and a specific claim, not a new template. That’s the full site-build and copy work underneath a site that actually converts, not just exists.
Seventy-three firms told the same story. Zero built a system.
